Menswear Monday: To Infinity and Beyond!

Sometimes I can be accused of living under a rock and the Infinity Scarf is another example of that. After seeing them more than a few times I grabbed one on an impulse and its been a pretty solid buy.

Here are the reasons I like it so far:
1) Adds a lot of warmth
2) Dresses up any button down or Tshirt
3) In a pinch can work as a makeshift Balaclava to block the wind.

That coupled with the rest of this getup will keep me warm and comfortable on the ‘average’ winter day. It's all about adaptation up in here!

Menswear Monday: Lunar New Year

I was told it was good luck to ring in the Lunar New Year you should wear red for good luck. So, I decided to do so in a big way -- for me. I got these pants a few years ago and was told they would be great for fall, but somehow I have been able to shoehorn them into every season. Pairing with this blue shirt shows that opposites do really play off of one another. Sometimes you need to mix it up no matter what season. Also, a friendly competition has started with the gang via Fitbit. How are you tracking your fitness goals this year? Hope you guys were able to enjoy the New Year, as well.

St. Louis: Mardi Gras & a Leather Jacket

Secret passages!

Fashion Fundamental:  Leather Jacket

It's Mardi Gras! I'm celebrating in St. Louis with G and some friends!  We ate BBQ, visited the Gateway Arch, and explored the crazy City Museum. This is really just a playground with a series of art installations. Everything from a 10 foot slide to secret tunnels to a giant pencil make this an intriguing funhouse.

I put on some comfortable clothes because I knew I would be crawling around. However, I added a bit of flare and function with a piece I don't pull often enough -- my leather jacket. I found this one in a French boutique 5 years ago. I was obsessed with the hood, and convinced myself I needed to buy it. I'm really glad I did... beads for everyone!

How are you celebrating Mardi Gras?

Relaxed Classics

Ah man, we're so close to the holiday weekend! Oh and this is weird, I'm wearing a Uniqlo shirt...
I love this button up - it makes me feel polished, but still relaxed and casual.

Do you follow the 'no white rule' post Labor Day? Pshh -- not a faux pas says Jane. Wear what you want when you want!

School buses are everywhere, pools are closing, and I'm dreaming of sweater veststrench coats, and boots. Are you ready for fall?

Have a great holiday weekend!

Banana Republic Classic Trench

The weather's getting a little chilly here in the Midwest, so I took advantage of the opportunity to bust out my Banana Republic trench.  I'm a fan of this trench; when I purchased it, I couldn't decide if I needed petite sizing or not... the sleeves are a touch long for me, but otherwise I think it's okay.  It fits in the shoulders, and the length works on my frame.  Overall, it's well-made, decently priced (especially with BR's occasional 40% off sales), and classic.  It's no Warhead, but it definitely does the job. :)

The silver hook bracelet was a gift from my ultra-stylish and generous friend, Carly. She purchased it in St. Croix, and it has its own Cruzan folklore: it's supposed to bring the wearer luck in love, and depending on how it's worn, indicates one's romantic status--much like the claddagh ring.
