Flower Power

Photo Cred: Kate

Kate and I spent the afternoon walking around town, picking up the ingredients for my semi-famous bread pudding, and browsing through shops. This easy summer dress from Gilly Hicks was perfect for the occasion. I really enjoy the floral prints from the Abercrombie & Fitch brand stores because they're super feminine, and I think you can score a decent deal on their dresses. I, do however, feel their items at full price aren't worth the money. I currently own two dresses from Gilly Hicks, and they both fit fairly well; see me wearing the other one here.

Dress: Vancluse in Navy, Gilly Hicks ($29.90, originally $34.50)
Cardigan: Gap Kids
Belt: Worn backwards, J.Crew. Also worn here.
Shoes: Old Navy (Fall 2010)

Star Student

Photos by Kate!

This week is my final week of classes, and I've been spending all of my time in the library & computer lab on term papers and final projects. Next Tuesday is my last day of finals, and then I'll be home free! I'm just one gigantic term paper, one slightly less major paper, one relatively easy essay and two exams away from graduation! In the mean time, I'm keeping study time fresh & comfy with this colorful ruffle cami & rolled denim shorts.

Cardigan: J.Crew
Top: Ruffle Cami in Purple/Kiwi Plaid, JCPenney (on sale for $14.99, originally $26)
Shorts: Victoria's Secret, Spring 2010
Shoes: Forever 21
Earrings: Taiwan

No More Pencils, No More Books...

...No More Teachers' Dirty Looks!

On Thursday, my family and I celebrated my graduation. Woot! I'm pretty much a happier and nicer person now that school is out. What time is it? Summertime.

When I first discovered this blue dress I was a little confused. Non-traditional, wavy "wings" threw me for a loop. However, this deep blue color sold me, and I envisioned that a belt would make for an interesting, cool look. Pockets would've been great for this dress, alas, no pockets means no silly string. Next time....oh wait, that means a PhD? Scratch that.

Oh, hi Ailyn.

Below is a photo of my dad. I was watching him during the ceremony and saw that 60% of the time he was playing on his iPhone. Needless to say, I was jealous. If this dress had pockets I, too, could be enjoying a little Max & the Magic Marker. FAIL.

Dancing Queen

My sorority's formal was last Friday, and Nigam was my date; not only is he hilarious and good-natured, but he's stylin' too. :)

I have a huge sweet tooth, and I'm a sucker for any kind of baked good. These homemade cupcakes definitely hit the spot.

At the end there, I'm suddenly belt-less & I'm not sure what thats about, but it does give us a nice comparison of belted dress versus no belt. Speaking of accessories, I love these Amrita Singh earrings for a fabulous pop of color; however, the backs of these earrings kept falling off, which was irritating when I was busting my moves all over the dance floor.

Geek in the Pink

How goof-tastic these pink glasses?  This pair was a graduation gift from a work colleague.  The challenge: how to incorporate them in a tasteful manner without looking too silly.  Sometimes... you just have to be silly.

Striped Tie - WARBLERS

I am very inspired by menswear. There is something very charming about tie clips, bow ties, etc. I found this prized, striped tie in a small, college bookstore.

Who loves Glee? I especially love the Warblers and wanted to sing Teenage Dream the entire day. Now, where to find the red piped blazer....

Sailor Moon

Keeping things simple and sweet with minimal accessories. I'm digging how the collar on this dress is vaguely reminiscent of Sailor Moon. This dress received mixed reviews from friends and classmates. The "OHMYGOD I love your DRESS!" compliments and "Not a big fan" comments were about equal. What do you think?

Happy Thursday! :)

Dress: Birthday Gift from Aili; from a local boutique

MBA Celebration

Awww yeah - totally had a classic graduation party! Tons of delicious food, drinks, face cake and good company.

Face Cake: An essential graduation item.

This is my lovely sister-in-law (new mom!) and buddy, Brian.

I chose this simple black dress that I found last year. I bought it at full price and have worn it one other time. My friend, Sarah, always sasses me... asking why I never wear my black dress since she hasn't seen the ROI on the amount I paid and the amount times I've worn it :). Second appearance = totally worth it.
