Dallas Stars Game

Hello all!  I hope you're surviving the winter weather.  I'm starting to get cabin fever, but there are some good things about cold weather (case in point: frozen) and wintertime activities. I caught a hockey game in Dallas with some of my college roomies.  This was my first experience with professional hockey, and I was impressed by how graceful the players were on the ice.

And yes, the whole times I was chanting "ducks fly together" in my head.

Jane Squared vs Winter

Winter 200 points. JaneSquared 3 points.

Shesh Winter! I told you to get real & get out of town! Ah .. well, at least the snow looks pretty...

Today I'm wearing my new favorite denim top from Uniqlo. This is a great shirt that can easily transition into work wear (tuck into a pencil skirt, add a cardigan or blazer). Lucky for me, I'm keeping it casual with a great pair of leggings and my duck boots.

We can battle this winter together! Thanks for reading and have a great week!

Menswear Monday: Shave and a Haircut

Well it may no longer cost 2 bits for these items, but sometimes there's nothing better than a good haircut and a nice close shave. For me personally -- a trend that I am happy to see sticking around is the old school style shaving. No more five razor combos and aerosol gel spray. It's all about going back to basics. Props to Aili's bro for introducing me to some of my favorite shaving items.

This safety razor is nice and heavy; and the it twists to open the head for a blade change. A years worth of blades can be found super cheap online and will make you wonder why you ever spent $15 for a set of name brand heads that will only last you two weeks.

The positive for this stick soap means it's great for anyone on the go. No need for a cup just rub directly on your wet whiskers, lather and get your shave on. The end result is a much better experience and a smoother shave.

Trust me, you won't be the only one to feel the difference.

Cheers & Happy Shaving.G

Chicago Botanical Gardens

Over winter break I spent some QT time with my nephew and niece at the Chicago Botanical Gardens. They had a great display of beautiful plants and a special train exhibit for the winter season. If you haven't had the chance to visit -- I highly recommend it!

I also am learning to master the sock bun. I love this for a quick and stylish updo. I picked up a great piece at Target (Goody hairtie & bun). Best part? You can easily tote it around in any small purse/bag. What's in your purse these days?

Thanks for reading!

Menswear Monday: To Infinity and Beyond!

Sometimes I can be accused of living under a rock and the Infinity Scarf is another example of that. After seeing them more than a few times I grabbed one on an impulse and its been a pretty solid buy.

Here are the reasons I like it so far:
1) Adds a lot of warmth
2) Dresses up any button down or Tshirt
3) In a pinch can work as a makeshift Balaclava to block the wind.

That coupled with the rest of this getup will keep me warm and comfortable on the ‘average’ winter day. It's all about adaptation up in here!

Cream Jacket Woes

I love seeing cream coats in the winter as they are classic, beautiful pieces. However, keeping this coat clean is exceptionally difficult. Last year I wore this coat out one evening and got splashed by a huge truck. It took me a few trips to the dry cleaners, but I got it out.

To be honest I've squirreled away this coat for a while in fear of it getting dirty, but what's the point of having something if you can't wear it? So, it's back out in the real world and I'm loving it. Plus, this coat makes me happy -- so it's worth it.  :)

Menswear Monday: Lunar New Year

I was told it was good luck to ring in the Lunar New Year you should wear red for good luck. So, I decided to do so in a big way -- for me. I got these pants a few years ago and was told they would be great for fall, but somehow I have been able to shoehorn them into every season. Pairing with this blue shirt shows that opposites do really play off of one another. Sometimes you need to mix it up no matter what season. Also, a friendly competition has started with the gang via Fitbit. How are you tracking your fitness goals this year? Hope you guys were able to enjoy the New Year, as well.
