Weekend Polka Dots

How is it that those weekends go by so quickly? I spent some time with my family, ate some great food and also ran in the Color Run. What a crazy race!

Those bright colors inspired this blue polka dot dress. I picked this number up at my local Forever 21. Win. I love the bow in the front for a vintage, girly touch.

Let's get a move on, week! I'm ready for the weekend already...

Bird pants

"G" the Photographer
I hope you all had a great weekend. It's back to the grind for another long week! :) I recently found these adorable pants from Loft. I got them on super sale, and think they are fun addition to the wardrobe.

So, I've been obsessed with the show Scandal on ABC. Have you seen it?! It's legit... And the main character wears some very chic white suits. Check it out!

Have a great week!

For the Love of Cardigans

Bright lights, big city....I love a night out on the town. How about some live music, and a few midweek drinks? The weekend is just around the corner, and nothing else puts me in a better mood than a pretty cardigan and a polka dot print.

Fashion Fundamental:  the Cardigan

The cardigan is the essential piece that works in every season. And, I find myself buying new colors all the time. From work to the weekend, it's a functional and classic piece for men and women. The best part? They are incredible versatile. The cardigan is a great base and have the ability to transform with the addition of a scarf or piece of jewelry. I love that you can easily tuck this piece into a purse for ease and portability. Honestly, I just adore cardigans.

I also stumbled up this fantastic article:  NPR's 'A Lovely Feeling': Celebrating Older Women With Fabulous Style. Check it out. It's a great piece that proves Fashionistas are truly timeless!

'85 Bears: Orange & Blue

When I need some color inspiration, I think of complimentary colors. Take for instance, your favorite sports team - you can visualize how colors look together when you are planning your color combinations. One of my favorite teams is the Chicago Bears. Orange & blue is a winning combination (well, just the '85 Bears).

Also check out our amiga at the Economy of Style in her own version of orange & blue.

What are some of your go-to, never-fail, color combos?

Best Vest

I really do love vests; I think I always have.  Vests can add a preppy vibe to any look and sometimes your outfit can look incomplete without a third piece. To finish off a look, I usually default to a cardigan or blazer, but I think a vest is a nice warm weather alternative.  This is my summer sweater vest.  :)

What do you think?  Are vests too cool for school or too reminiscent of Urkel? Let us know your thoughts!

Coffee Break & Two Shades of Orange

I've been in the working world for a few years now and have fallen into the classic routine of starting my day with a cup of coffee. Today is no different as I will be picking up a morning cup of Joe at my local joint in this orange on orange combo.  Like any good coffee shop, there is always chatter about good books -- and of course Fifty Shades of Grey is all the rage.

I'll stick with my two shades of orange as today is feeling a bit rough. So rough, that I may have to grab cup no. 2 since coffee breaks are essential to any work day. Whenever I feel the caffeine monster, I start to sing the Broadway tune "Coffee Break" from the musical my sister and I recently saw in NYC. This pretty much sums up how I feel during coffee break. I mean, who doesn't break out into a choreographed dance routine en route to their coffee break?

If that didn't tickle you fancy -- you may enjoy the tale of the Temp & the Reception in the "cubicle of love."

What happens on your coffee breaks?

Green One Shoulder

The one-shoulder style can look fantastic on many gals, but I'm still fairly tentative when it comes to this particular style. I found this zigzag patterned dress in... Los Angeles -- of course. As I mentioned before... I bought many great dresses and unique pieces on my fabulous trip. This dress is swanky, and carefree -- perfect for a night out on the town with my lovely girlfriends.

Check out another one-shoulder look here

This week, Ailyn & I are gearing up for a trip to the Northeast to hit up NYC. More to come on our quick get-away!
