1966 Blue Ford

G just bought this vintage - 1966 Ford truck and took me out for a spin. This thing is big, loud and a ton of fun! Though I don't usually wear boots or cowboy hats... I'm thinking I might need to find some attire to better fit climbing in and out of the truck.

Maybe more plaid? Well, more to come on "truck style."

For now, I'm wearing this vibrant maxi from Nordstrom. I'm totally into maxis this season, and I like that this orange piece is only half a skirt, but it's uniform the entire way around. I've seen many mullet maxis and I'm not a big fan, however, I like this style.

Are you rocking the maxi?

Summer Travels + Tory Burch Flats

Oh hey there! I've been super busy with work and have been hopping around the U.S. visiting:  Hilton Head, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe & Kalispell. It's been a pretty legit summer of travel! Next up? Thailand, but I'll have more on that later in the year.

In my travels I've been working to get better at packing essentials. I find myself reaching for a staple summer piece:   the maxi dress. It's a great choice for high style but, low maintenance packing. I also picked up these fabulous T. Burch flats that fit nicely into a carry on for sightseeing.

Are you hitting up any destinations this year? If so, what are you packing?

'85 Bears: Orange & Blue

When I need some color inspiration, I think of complimentary colors. Take for instance, your favorite sports team - you can visualize how colors look together when you are planning your color combinations. One of my favorite teams is the Chicago Bears. Orange & blue is a winning combination (well, just the '85 Bears).

Also check out our amiga at the Economy of Style in her own version of orange & blue.

What are some of your go-to, never-fail, color combos?

L'Orange Dress & a Bachelorette

crew:  LC, Sarah, Angie, Julie, Jen

In the spirit of wedding season, I wanted to share what I wore to celebrate my friend Jen's last days as a single lady. Bachelorette party attire can be a bit tricky, but dressy sandals and a brightly colored party dress can easily take you from drinks to dinner to drinks and a few more. :) Cheers to putting a ring on it and congrats Jen!

Now that wedding season is in full swing, let us know what you've been rocking to the latest bachelorette bashes!

*It's not Friday, but Rebecca Black is 15 today. Ode to Friday.

Coffee Break & Two Shades of Orange

I've been in the working world for a few years now and have fallen into the classic routine of starting my day with a cup of coffee. Today is no different as I will be picking up a morning cup of Joe at my local joint in this orange on orange combo.  Like any good coffee shop, there is always chatter about good books -- and of course Fifty Shades of Grey is all the rage.

I'll stick with my two shades of orange as today is feeling a bit rough. So rough, that I may have to grab cup no. 2 since coffee breaks are essential to any work day. Whenever I feel the caffeine monster, I start to sing the Broadway tune "Coffee Break" from the musical my sister and I recently saw in NYC. This pretty much sums up how I feel during coffee break. I mean, who doesn't break out into a choreographed dance routine en route to their coffee break?

If that didn't tickle you fancy -- you may enjoy the tale of the Temp & the Reception in the "cubicle of love."

What happens on your coffee breaks?

Orange You Glad

As I get older, my jokes get better.... :)

I have a deep affinity for orange (more orange) and found this beautiful blouse at my local Crew. I've also been experimenting with some makeup that will pair more seamlessly with orange. My pinks and red wer not doing the trick, so I visiting my local, trusty Ulta. Rows and rows of lipsticks later...I discovered Smashbox's Mandarin lipstick. I like this color because it is a cool color and not severe organge. I also gravitated toward the blush lines and found Too Faced's Full Bloom Creme Blush Prim & Poppy. I picked both up with my $3.50 off coupon. Ulta FTW!

Just Call Me Picasso

Big thanks to my photographer and platemaker extraordinaire, Carly of Carly in the Capital

Carly and I checked out a local paint-your-own-pottery studio, where I painted an adorable monster bank  to look like Mike Wazowski's chubbier blue cousin, while Carly created a plate for her mother's dining pleasure.  I think the bank turned out pretty cute pre-firing-in-the-kiln despite the fact that I'm one of the least artistic people you'll meet; I don't draw, paint, sew, sing, dance, play an instrument, throw pots even passably well.  But I do have a knack for ordering winning dishes at restaurants I've never frequented.

We all have our skills, I suppose. :)

Hello Orange

Orange is one of my favorite summer colors. I paired this bright top with a patterned pencil skirt, allowing the orange to pop.  Pearls coupled with a gold chain add some flare. Now, to the office! Everybody is working toward the weekend.

Orange & Blue

Layering is also great for the summer. I work in an air conditioned office and temperature can be a major issue. Wearing versatile pieces allow you to be comfortable in the cooler office spaces and you can remove a layer when you are out for a quick lunch in the heat.
