LBD + Pink Shoes

Fashion Fundamental:  Little Black Dress (LBD)

I love those nights when you get to slip on a great black dress. Nothing is more classic. LBD sometimes need a pop of color to help make the look sing. Cue:  hot pink shoes. I found these pink shoes at Macy's last season and think they are so much fun.

More LBDs here:   1, 2, 3, & 4.

How many LBDs live in your closet?

Black on Black

My wedding season is finally drawing near a close! This year's final bachelorette party was celebrated with this black on black ensemble. LBDs are timeless, and I wanted to keep it simple and accomplished this through a variety of black accessories to finish the look.

Also, I'm finding it harder and harder to find chic pieces at the very trendy stores like F21. However, F21 surprised me with this pretty lace number. I love black dresses and this is the lighter-weight version to the similar Betsey Johnson piece featured last winter.

BSB Black & Blue

Remember the Backstreet Boy's album Black & Blue? That was a ridiculous album... oh 2000s!

Anyway, one can never go wrong with an LBD (or a little BSB) -- especially when you're itching for the weekend. Paired with a piercing cobalt cardi, this dress can take me from for work and happy hour post 5 p.m.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Betsey Johnson Sweet Little Crepe Short Sleeve

Meet a college sweetie - Lisa! She is lovely. Will, Lisa & I have been friend for years.
I adore this beautiful Betsey Johnson LBD. The first time I tried it on was last September while visiting Las Vegas. I tried it on, fell in love, but almost fell over at the $338 price tag. I was in Chicago about a month ago and saw it on sale for a little over $150. I had to jump at the deep discount!

Pairing this LBD with me new favorite pink pumps makes me very happy. Have you scored any good deals lately?

PFC 13: Stylish Under $100 at the Lincoln Presidential Library Award

Today is Ailyn's birthday!  Happy Birthday Ailyn! You are such a special person and wonderful sister. <3

PFC #13 - hosted by Annie of Really Petite: Stylish for under $100: If you can, please break down the price of each piece to your outfit.  The lower the price of the completed outfit- the better! Bonus points if you can put together a completed outfit including shoes and accessories for under $100.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to be in Chicago for the Lincoln Leadership Prize. This event honored former Polish President Lech Wałęsa, who helped lead his country to a new era of freedom and became the first democratically elected leader in Polish postwar history. This was a very cool event where President Wałęsa shared his inspiring story of freedom through peaceful, but effective protest. Chicago always hosts the swankiest of events, so I came prepared to this event with a classic LBD.  This goes to show that you can be fashionably and affordably attired for any occasion.

Dress:  Gap also styled here ($50)
Belt:  Loft ($8)
Shoes: Perfect Pumps, Ann Taylor | shop ($36)

Lipstick:  Round Case, Chaos | shop
Nail Polish:  Frankly I Don't Give A-Dam by OPI | shop
Grand total: $106 (excluding makeup & nail polish) - Not too bad!

LBD & Gingham

This week, I'm styling this basic black ponte dress from the Gap with wardrobe staples that are probably currently living in your closet.  Look out for another look featuring this dress later this week.

Aili and I actually both own this dress; it has proved to be a versatile, comfortable, and travel-friendly piece that is appropriate for many an occasion.  However, in recent months, I've kind of forgotten about this dress (among other pieces in my wardrobe), so I'm making more of an effort to shop my closet.  I thought this gingham button down would add a little funk to the unrelenting black.  And the pattern does add a little flavor to the look, but the effect isn't exactly what I was going for...  I still wanted to share, though! :)

Also, today is Kate Middleton's 30th Birthday! Check out Jane's look inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Holiday Look: LBD

You can never go wrong with the LBD, especially during the holiday season.  Of course, there's always room for a little bling or Christmas cheer in the form of sassy plaid shoes. I am a huge fan of these shoes, but I've got to say the shoe wearing window of opportunity is quite short. This season, I've worn them on just one other occasion, but always think I should rock them more! My one complaint, though, is that the heels are a little low, but they are fun and add a bright punch of holiday to the look. Next year I'll have to work on styling them into more outfits...

Big ups to my awesome brother who found this plaid pair for me at our local DSW. They were on mega sale for $17! :) He has a great sense of style (runs in the family, right? :D), and an uncanny ability to scour great deals. For the holiday, he bought us a $160 $30 PS3 Guitar Hero Band Bundle. He's awesome - Big Brothers FTW!

I hope you are still enjoying great times with friends and family, and getting pumped for the new year.
